Short Melody for the Adolphe Sax

Working in a music store truly has it's benefits, I have been lucky enough to work in store that recently had an original Adolphe Sax saxophone completely restored. This particular horn dates back to 1856 and is the oldest instrument I have ever played. There has been many advances in sax design over the years but you can still see and hear the intent of the horn even at 150+ years. Although I am not an alto player nor is the mouthpiece I played on proper for the instrument I still managed to get a little something out of it despite the difficulties. My former manager rebuilt the horn and it was an experience in itself seeing it unfold all in front of my eyes. Quite an honor just being to blow a couple notes on such a piece of history.

Chocala!

Today I had a segment on the KDVS 90.3 show Local Dirt. The track above is an on air performance. Fun times and a super comfortable station with a huge music collection to dig through. You can check it out at KDVS.org or localdirtradio.com
